Job Description

Position Summary: 

As a key member of the JCCA Home Finding Team, the primary responsibility of the Foster Home Recruiter will be the recruitment, training, certification, and retention of foster and kinship families. This position will support prospective foster parents from their first inquiry all the way through certification and placement, helping ensure children in care are placed in safe, loving homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct community outreach and host informational orientations about fostering
  • Collaborate with case planning and program teams to increase kinship placements
  • Assess and screen prospective foster parents through home visits and interviews
  • Facilitate pre-certification and in-service training sessions for foster parents
  • Maintain weekly contact with all applicants to guide them through the certification process
  • Ensure all records are up-to-date in Connections and Evolv
  • Lead foster parent support groups and retention initiatives
  • Attend bed development, transitional meetings, and family team conferences
  • Represent the agency at city, state, and community events
  • Help plan and execute community events to promote foster care awareness
  • Innovate and implement creative recruitment strategies, especially for kinship families

     

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; BSW or related degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in child welfare, human services or community engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and professional demeanor
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx communities
  • Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates encouraged to apply (eligible for differential pay)

 

 Salary: $45,900 - $48,700
