Seven Hills Rhode Island is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support individuals in achieving greater independence, safety, and quality of life. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver meaningful, person-centered occupational therapy services in home and community-based settings.

 

Under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA assists in implementing occupational therapy services, conducting assessments, and supporting individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions. This position focuses on enhancing independence through adaptive strategies, environmental modifications, and access to assistive technology.

Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Support & Intervention

  • Assist in conducting occupational therapy assessments and implementing treatment plans
  • Support individuals in developing skills related to daily living, mobility, and independence
  • Provide education and training on adaptive equipment and assistive technology
  • Promote safety and accessibility within home and community environments

Assessment & Resource Coordination

  • Evaluate the need for adaptive equipment, home modifications, and assistive technology
  • Assist individuals in identifying and accessing funding resources for equipment and modifications
  • Support participants in connecting with community-based health and wellness resources
  • Monitor how medical conditions impact functional abilities and daily activities

Education & Training

  • Provide participants and caregivers with training to improve independence and safety
  • Educate individuals on managing chronic conditions and preventing additional health concerns
  • Support caregivers in implementing effective strategies and interventions

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and assessments
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Safeguard confidential and sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA

  • Respond appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications:
  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required (Rhode Island)
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program required
  • Minimum of one year of related experience preferred
  • Valid Class C or Class D driver’s license
