HOURS OF WORK:  32-36 Hours a week, 10 Months

STARTING WAGE: $15.15 - 16.05 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE


 


TITLE:       PRE-SCHOOL PARAPROFESSIONAL


 


CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Exempt


 


BASIC FUNCTION


We expect preschool aides to be kind, helpful, self-starters, professional and creative.  Preschool aides need to adapt easily to changing situations and should take the lead when necessary and appropriate.  Aides should be willing to assist Lead Teachers in whatever manner the Lead Teacher deems necessary.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH LARGE AND SMALL GROUPS OF CHILDREN.

  2. ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE AND WORK WELL WITH CHILDREN.

  3. ABILITY TO MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY.

  4. CPR/FIRST AIDE TRAINED.

  5. OBTAIN A FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARD (DISTRICT WILL ASSIST)

  6. MUST HAVE TB TEST BEFORE START DATE.

  7. ABILITY TO PASS PARAPROFESSIONAL ASSESSMENT TEST UNLESS HOLD AT LEAST AN AA DEGREE.


 


REPORTS TO: CLASSROOM TEACHER/PRINCIPAL


 


JOB GOAL:  Executing the Pre-School learning program and daycare


 


JOB FACTORS:  Must take ownership and lead the Pre-School and Daycare Program using initiative, skills and appropriate judgment to extend the learning and daycare activities of Pre-School students


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Assist the Lead Preschool Teacher during classroom hours

  2. Help prepare snacks and monitor clean up.

  3. Assist in managing classroom behavior and enforcing rules.

  4. Support Lead/Teacher and children during small and large centers.

  5. Make sure student/teacher ratios are in place at all times.

  6. Maintain a safe and clean classroom.

  7. Assist with set up and clean up of classroom each day.

  8. Record anecdotal notes daily for children’s portfolios.

  9. Help Lead Teacher monitor students and recognize potential classroom problems.

  10. Other duties as assigned by Lead Teacher.
