Reporting Developer I - Power BI Developer in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
Position is on-site only and offers an optional 9/80 schedule (9hr days with every other Friday off).
Required Skills
- Experience building basic Power BI (or similar application) reports and dashboards using existing datasets
- Familiarity with Power BI Desktop, including:
- Creating visuals
- Applying filters and slicers
- Basic report formatting and layout
- Introductory knowledge of DAX, such as:
- Simple measures (SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE)
- Basic calculated columns
- Experience using Power Query for:
- Basic data cleansing
- Simple transformations (filtering rows, renaming fields, changing data types)
- Basic understanding of relational data concepts, including tables, joins, and primary keys
- Experience writing basic SQL queries (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY) against SQL Server or Oracle
- Ability to validate report results against source data with guidance
- Experience creating charts and summaries using Excel and PowerPoint or similar applications
- Ability to follow established documentation, standards, and development processes
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new tools and concepts
Preferred Skills
- Introductory exposure to Microsoft Fabric concepts (e.g., awareness of Lakehouse or semantic models)
- Microsoft Power BI certification (PL‑300 or similar), or progress toward certification
- Familiarity with publishing reports to the Power BI Service
- Experience applying basic row‑level security (RLS) with guidance
- Exposure to working in an Agile or team-based development environment
- Experience enhancing or maintaining existing reports rather than designing new models

- Demonstrated capability to understand data structures and create effective visualizations and reports that drive business insight and value.
