Job Description

Summary: The Kitchen Lead is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure food is prepared efficiently, safely, and to quality standards. This role supports kitchen staff, maintains cleanliness and organization, and ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations. The Kitchen Lead works closely with management to uphold consistency, manage workflow, and deliver an excellent dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Culinary Management to oversee all aspects of food preparation, including portioning, cooking, and plating, to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to recipes.
  • Execute the preparation of menu items utilizing various cooking methods such as grilling, sautéing, frying, roasting, and baking to achieve desired flavors and textures.
  • Monitor food presentation and ensure it meets standards before delivering to guests.
  • Train new and current kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and sanitation standards.
  • Exhibit proficiency in handling kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the restaurant's menu, including ingredient details and preparation methods.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure the timely preparation and delivery of orders.
  • Manage multiple orders simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet service deadlines without compromising food quality.
  • Report any inconsistencies or quality issues to the chef or kitchen supervisor.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen to identify and address any health or safety hazards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment, such as stoves, ovens, and refrigerators, to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality and consistency by conducting regular taste tests and quality checks.
  • Foster open communication and teamwork among kitchen staff and other departments, such as front-of-house staff and management.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to any unexpected challenges or emergencies in the kitchen, such as equipment malfunctions or staff shortages.

Must Haves:

  • Previous experience in a lead Kitchen role
  • Certified Food Handler a plus.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards
  • Customer-centric
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
