The Senior Estimator is responsible for managing the full estimating lifecycle for commercial construction projects, with a focus on waterproofing, masonry, and concrete restoration scopes. This role collaborates closely with internal teams, clients, engineers, architects, vendors, and subcontractors to develop accurate and competitive project estimates.
The Senior Estimator analyzes drawings and specifications, performs detailed quantity takeoffs, prepares proposals, and ensures alignment between scope, cost, and project requirements. This position reports to leadership within the Estimating Department and may supervise an Estimating Assistant.
Key Responsibilities

Manage estimates from initial review through final proposal submission.

Review and analyze Requests for Proposal (RFPs), drawings, specifications, addenda, and related documentation to determine project scope and cost factors.

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for waterproofing, masonry, and concrete restoration systems.

Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.

Coordinate with estimators, business development managers, project managers, construction managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to clarify scope-of-work and pricing considerations.

Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve scope ambiguities prior to bid submission.

Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and schedule impacts.

Participate in internal peer reviews to finalize estimates and proposals prior to submission.

Consult with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and confirm material availability.

Maintain and update the company’s directory of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Collaborate with project managers to establish production rates, crew compositions, and job execution strategies.

Maintain and utilize historical cost databases to compare estimates with actual project performance.

Ensure estimates align with company safety standards and support the promotion of the organization’s safety program.

Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely bid preparation and submission.

Maintain clear communication between estimating staff and management regarding active bids and upcoming opportunities.
