Job Description
 

OVERVIEW 

The primary role of this position is to transfer items from plant to plant within the PFI Family of Companies.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Performs pre-trip inspections on vehicle and reports any problems to the onsite Ryder & PFI automotive mechanic and/or takes equipment to the shop for repairs.
  • Ensure trucks are fueled.
  • Responsible for keeping the truck and trailers clean and organized.
  • Transport loads from Main Plant to OCFS in accordance with SOP.
  • Ensure load has the proper paperwork as to what is being transferred.
  • Work closely with yard supervisor and other drivers on all product transfer needs. 
  • Ensure all product produced at Main Plant is transferred to OCFS (off season) at the end of shift.  During season hand off paperwork to the 2nd shift driver.
  • Occasionally transfer non-perishable items such as packaging supplies, equipment, etc. from plant to plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent 
  • Class A CDL required

Work Experience

  • 2 years minimum driving experience
  • 2 years preferred manufacturing environment experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of DOT safety regulations and ability to follow them properly.
  • Safely drive Commercial Motor Vehicles & comply with all speed limits and laws.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions.
  • Ability to follow and comply with quality standards.
  • Ability to comprehend and comply with GMP rules and Food Safety guidelines.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain valid hi-lo license.
  • Ability to work as contributing member within the team.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a PC (keyboard/mouse).
