Position Summary
Responsible for serving food and beverage to guests at events, such as conferences, receptions and/or weddings. Will also assist with setup and tear-down of the event space.
Essential Functions:
- Pre-event set-up: Arrange tables and chairs based on the floor plan. Set up beverage station and buffet. Place linens, silverware, and table presets, if required.
- Replenish buffet and drink station as needed.
- Serve a plated meal when required.
- Clear dishes between courses and as guests complete their meal.
- Keep event space and restrooms clean during event.
- Will advise the Event Manager of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Performs side work, such as refilling salt & pepper shakers and sugar caddies.
- Assists with post-event clean-up and tear-down.
- Completes all duties assigned by the Event Manager.
- Follows all Meridian Center policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
- High school preferred.
- 1 year server experience preferred.
- Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor and appearance in all situations.

Personal Relations: Frequent contact with the public and coworkers exists in this position. A positive attitude, as well as professional demeanor and appearance, is always expected and appreciated.
Supervisory Responsibilities: none.
Working Conditions: Work hours may include days, evenings and weekends. Work is primarily indoors at the Meridian Center, but off-site catering will occasionally be required. May be exposed to sharp utensils, extremely hot stoves and grills, sharp and rapid equipment movements, hot food, potentially dangerous chemicals and solvents. Injury may be a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and procedures are not properly followed.
Physical Requirements: Read and write (English), communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers, give and/or follow verbal and written instructions, visually inspect all work areas, perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources, stand, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly
