REPORTS TO:        Maintenance Mechanic Crew Chief

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month full time


 Pay: Current Contract Rate: $21.00/ Hour, M-F, overtime available

JOB DESCRIPTION: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC


JOB GOAL: The incumbent performs work in one or more of the skilled building or service trades, on a journeyman level, in the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and facilities. Does related work as required.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Regular daily attendance;
• Must be ambulatory; ability to walk and carry heavy items and to be able to operate all related power equipment
• Must have good vision; ability to see well enough to meet standards set by supervisor or district;
• Must possess physical strength; enough strength to lift, move, and carry heavy items throughout the day (heavy items are defined as those that weigh over fifty (50) pounds); 
• Intelligence; must be able to evaluate a problem, devise and implement a solution;
• Must possess social skills; must be able to work in a team environment.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs skilled work with one or more of the building or service trades;
• Performs work in the plumbing and heating trade;
• Performs minor electrical work
• Plans work, estimates material and supplies required, may read blueprints to determine outcome of work indicated, interprets diagrams, charts and specifications, requests supplies and equipment.;
• Operates power equipment hand tools and testing equipment, maintains equipment and shop in good condition;
• May repair trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, and other equipment;
• Cleans and paints walls, woodwork and floors;
• May be required to perform occasional cleaning duties.
• Other tasks as assigned.



REPORTS TO: Reports to the Maintenance Mechanic Crew Chief, or an administrative employee of higher rank who assigns, observes and monitors the work.



SUPERVISES: May supervise and train lower level maintenance workers and laborers assigned to assist in the performance of related work.
