Police Unit Upfit Technician – DC Metro Area

Position Description

 

This is a full-time on-site position for a Police Vehicle Upfit Technician (2nd Shift) with Vector Fleet Management, located in the DC Metro area. The position involves the installation and modification of specialized equipment and components for emergency vehicles, including but not limited to police vehicles. The Police Vehicle Upfit Technician must demonstrate knowledge in wiring and electrical systems, sheet metal installation, and appropriate mechanical techniques and practices. The Police Vehicle Upfit Technician may also be responsible for testing the equipment and ensuring the work is performing to the required standards.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • 2+ years of experience working with emergency vehicle upfitting or related professional experience
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions and information
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience working in a mechanically-focused role, including wiring and electrical systems, sheet metal installation and installation of aftermarket products
  • Experience working on police vehicle systems such as emergency lighting/siren systems, two-way radios, and/or Mobile Data Computing systems desirable
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, and the ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively
