Job Summary:
As the Rigging Assistant, you will perform splicing, swaging, limited customer service and other duties as assigned. This position requires obtaining certification from cordage vendors for splicing different types of cordage to ensure top quality product.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform splicing and swaging for customer orders
- Assist in the installation of rigging product
- Understand proper use for all equipment and tools used in the field and shop
- Ensure the rigging staff are representing the highest expression of our brand and the service we provide
- Drive sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge
- Produce quotes, orders, production and payment for rigging products and services
- Educate store staff and services and capabilities of the rigging shop
- Protects crew members and customers by providing a safe and clean shop environment
- Ensure all safety rules and standards are followed while working in the shop and the field
- Maintain the stability and reputation of the shop by complying with all legal requirements
- Available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends and some holidays.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- General sailing and boat knowledge with the ability to read measurements, both imperial and metric
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and DMV checks per the West Marine Driver Fleet Safety Program
- Willing to work a varied shift based upon business needs, including unscheduled overtime
