Job Description

We're looking for a Senior and Intermediate Data Engineer to join our growing data team! You'll become part of a global, growing SaaS company at an exciting point in our growth journey. Based in Auckland CBD, you'll enjoy WFH days + lots of lovely benefits (more on those below).

What will you do?

  • Work across multiple active projects that evolve our data platform and enable better product and customer outcomes.
  • Design, build and improve scalable data pipelines, platform capabilities and data models that support both analytics and wider platform use cases.
  • Lead the technical delivery of complex work, contributing to solution design, engineering standards and decisions that improve performance, reliability and quality.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across the business to shape practical solutions, deliver roadmap priorities and support the ongoing health of the platform.
  • Help uplift team capability through mentorship, while also contributing to how the team continues to adopt AI-enabled development tools.
  • Our tech stack: Python, Databricks, AWS, Terraform, Spark, Azure DevOps, GitHub. 


What are we looking for?

Intermediate

  • Python experience, with the ability to build reliable, production-quality software.
  • A solid understanding of good engineering practices, including code quality, testing, maintainability and source control.
  • Experience working on data-related projects, with an understanding of scalable pipelines and data processing.
  • Exposure to cloud-based platforms and modern engineering tooling.
  • A collaborative approach, with the confidence to share ideas and tackle challenges as part of a team.
  • Curiosity, initiative and an openness to trying new things including AI-enabled ways of working.

Senior

  • Data engineering expertise, with strong Python capability.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern data tooling.


  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code.


  • Proven ability to lead complex work, guide technical direction and contribute to solution design.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and prioritisation skills.

  • A collaborative approach, with an interest in mentoring others, improving team practices and championing AI-enabled ways of working.
