Job Description

Forward Slash Technology is a St. Louis-based Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Managed Services provider. 

 

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our St. Louis-based team. This is a client-facing role in which you will lead technical strategy and service delivery for a variety of SMB and enterprise clients. You'll design, implement, and secure complex IT infrastructures, mentor junior team members, and engage directly with clients to drive high-impact technology decisions. You’ll collaborate in a culture that values innovation, mentorship, and continuous learning.

 

  • Environments supporting 50–400 endpoints
  • Multi-site networks across 30+ client organizations
  • Infrastructure SLAs maintained at or above 99.9% uptime



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance to ensure client systems remain efficient and secure
  • Direct and implement high-level IT projects, collaborating with clients and team members to meet deliverables
  • Develop and maintain project roadmaps, ensuring alignment with strategic client objectives
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for advanced troubleshooting and complex problem-solving
  • Conduct code reviews, solution design reviews, and participate in peer mentoring
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers
  • Ensure client SLAs are met or exceeded through proactive monitoring and performance tuning
  • Lead discovery and architectural design sessions with new clients
  • Standardize documentation and technical procedures for internal and external use



QUALIFICATIONS



Technical Expertise

  • Networking & Infrastructure: 10+ years supporting IT networks in MSP environments. Proficient in Layer 2/3 switching, routing (OSPF, BGP), DNS, DHCP, and designing high-availability architectures with failover and disaster recovery
  • Firewall & Security Appliances: Extensive experience with Barracuda, Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, and related firewall deployments
  • Microsoft Ecosystem: Advanced expertise in Active Directory, Exchange (including O365), and Windows Server environments
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Skilled in VMware, Hyper-V, and hybrid infrastructure solutions using Azure, Quest Rapid Recovery, and Barracuda tools
  • VoIP & Communications: Deploy and manage VoIP systems (Mitel, Avaya), following industry best practices for network integration
  • Server & Platform Administration: Proficient in managing SQL Server, Unix/Linux systems, IPSEC/SSL VPNs, and web hosting services
  • Spam & Content Filtering: Experience implementing Barracuda web and spam filtering solutions


Security & Compliance Expertise

  • Deep understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls
  • Experience implementing and managing IDPS, NAC, WAF, and VPN solutions
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and IAM platforms
  • Ensure secure client infrastructure through proactive risk identification and response

 

Project & Client Management

  • Demonstrated success managing IT projects and customer-facing initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; adept at building long-term client relationships and delivering high-touch service
  • Prior IT consulting experience (MSP background/experience is preferred)

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet adapting deadlines
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to participate in on-call support activities and work irregular hours when needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Cloud Platform & Infrastructure
