Financial Analyst II

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a driven professional to join our team as a Financial Analyst.


About the Role

In this role, you will handle essential payroll and accounting tasks under general supervision. You will be responsible for reviewing financial records and performing payroll audits to ensure every transaction follows state policies and standard accounting rules.

Position Information

Here is some important information about this position:
  • Salary Range: $22.42 - $35.59
  • FT/PT Status: Full Time

Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst II, your daily responsibilities will include:
  • Payroll Processing: Managing payroll through Vantage Financial, including audits, time entry, wage types, leave balance verification, and report management.
  • Agency Support: Reviewing and entering payroll for the entire agency, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Training and Oversight: Training payroll staff, troubleshooting and resolving system issues, and managing system security and user access.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all actions align with State policies and procedures.
  • Financial Adjustments: Processing reimbursements and wage withholdings.
  • Specialized Leave Management: Managing payroll processes for LWOP, FMLA, Military leave, Workers' Compensation, and Long Term Disability (LTD).
  • Retirement Services: Calculating and processing retirements, including guiding employees through the transition process.
  • Travel and Expense: Auditing, approving, and assisting with Concur travel reimbursements.
  • Backup Support: Serving as a backup for payroll and benefits training.

Qualifications

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who meets the following criteria:
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in accounting, payroll, Vantage, Data Warehouse, and customer service.
    • Note: Completed higher education coursework in the following areas may be substituted for related experience; accounting, finance or business (e.g. associate’s degree counts as two years of experience)

Underfill

This position may be filled as a Financial Analyst I for those who do not meet the qualification criteria listed above.  In order to qualify for the underfill, you must meet have the following:

  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in accounting, payroll, Vantage, Data Warehouse, and customer service.
    • Note: Completed higher education coursework in the following areas may be substituted for related experience; accounting, finance or business (e.g. associate’s degree counts as two years of experience)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Vantage Financial and Data Warehouse software.
  • Analytical Ability: The ability to read, interpret, and apply complex state rules and financial policies.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
