Network and Business Systems Administrator

Job Overview: The Network and Business Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our organization's computer networks and critical business applications/systems. While this role requires strong traditional network administration skills, it also demands the ability to think beyond the network and engage with the unique software and systems each department relies on — including accounting and project management, equipment management, human resources, payroll. They will ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services, while also supporting critical business applications such as the ERP system. This dual focus makes ERP and cross-departmental system expertise a core requirement for the position.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Network Design, Management & Optimization
· Design, implement, and maintain complex LAN/WAN architectures, wireless networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
· Proactively monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and low latency.
· Manage core network services including DNS, DHCP, IP address management, and VLANs.
· Plan and execute regular network upgrades, patches, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
ERP & Business Application Support
· Administer and maintain the organization’s ERP system, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
· Provide ERP-related technical support, user access management, and role-based security configuration.
· Partner with department leaders (e.g., accounting, HR/payroll, project management, equipment management) to understand their software requirements and ensure systems are properly integrated, secure, and aligned with business needs.
· Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders for ERP and departmental system updates, patches, and integrations.
· Support process improvements by leveraging ERP and departmental systems to streamline workflows and improve data visibility.
User Support & Cross-Team Collaboration
· Serve as an escalation point for network and ERP-related issues impacting end users or business services.
· Work closely with help desk, system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and application owners to resolve issues and improve infrastructure reliability.
· Collaborate with IT team and help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Strategic Planning & Governance
· Contribute to the long-term IT and infrastructure strategy, including ERP roadmap, cloud integration, disaster recovery, and scalability planning.
· Assess emerging technologies and make recommendations that align with business goals and improve network security, performance, and cost-efficiency.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation of network architecture, ERP configuration, and departmental system integrations.
· Ensure the network and ERP system meets all security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Security & Risk Management
· Lead efforts to secure both network and ERP from internal and external threats.
· Conduct regular risk assessments and implement policies and controls to mitigate vulnerabilities.
· Participate in incident response and recovery efforts, including root cause analysis and reporting.

Requirements
Qualifications:
· Minimum of an associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field (bachelor’s degree preferred). Will consider a combination of education and proven experience.
· 5+ years' experience as a network administrator, systems administrator, or a similar role.
· Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
· Proficiency in network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools
· Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and IDS/IPS concepts
· Knowledge of Windows/Linux-based environments and basic scripting is a plus.
· Experience supporting hybrid cloud/on-premises environments and integrating with platforms such as AWS or Azure.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· SQL experience is desired, but not required
· Experience with Crystal Reports also desired, but not required

Work Environment & Expectations:
· Office-based with work flexibility – occasional remote opportunities
· Participation in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotation for critical systems may be required.
· Occasional travel to satellite locations or data centers.
