Job Description
Congressional School seeks a Director of Learning and Center for Teaching, Learning and Innovation (CTLI) for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Director of Learning and CTLI reports to the Head of School and supports students to become successful learners and leads the planning of student programming and related faculty professional development to increase the effectiveness of students and teachers. The Director must have strong knowledge and experience regarding current research on different learning needs and styles of Infant - 8th Grade students. The Director will partner closely with faculty to facilitate effective use of accommodations and share best pedagogical practices, skillful classroom management, and methods of differentiation. The Director serves as a leader regarding authentic approaches to learning and advocates on behalf of students and student learning.

The Director will lead the CTLI and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. The Director will collaborate with the Center's collaborative partners and Advisory Council. The CTLI is a new initiative for Congressional School and we're excited for the Director to launch it and help it reach its full potential.

The Director must be proactive and enjoy working in a high-paced environment that is mission-driven, results- and solutions-oriented, and nurture the strong sense of community. The ideal candidate will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be detailed-oriented, have strong administrative and organizational skills, and have the ability to maintain a balance between multiple priorities. The Director will take initiative and work independently on projects, from conception to completion.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with faculty to identify students in need of academic support; offer support to faculty on behalf of students with learning differences
Provide direct instruction to students with learning differences to develop and enhance study and executive functioning skills in either one-on-one or small group settings
Work with parents and faculty to ensure a strong partnership, exhibit empathy and demonstrate the School's core values
Analyze psychoeducational test results and evaluations and summarize findings for faculty
Create data-driven intervention programs and speak to educational progress evidenced by data
Conduct informal screenings and assessments
Update Learning Center Profiles and Accommodation Plans as needed
Coordinate the Learning Center Student Support referral process
Oversee implementation of classroom accommodations or enrichment activities for students who use the Learning Center
Coordinate and execute, as appropriate, school-wide professional development in the areas of learning differences and learning support for teachers and staff
Assist teachers in differentiating instruction for a variety of learning styles
Provide information to parents about student performance
Manage the CTLI staff
Serve as a member of the School's Leadership Team

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or Education; Master's degree in psychology, education or special education is preferred
Previous administration or leadership experience
Minimum of five years of experience in special education
Experience writing, reading, and developing psychoeducational plans
Familiarity with current research, strategies and programs in reading, writing, and math for students with learning differences
Trained and certified in multi-sensory approaches to reading interventions such as Orton Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, and/or Wilson Language Program
Experience in assessment and test interpretation; familiarity with standardized and informal assessments commonly used when identifying students with reading, writing, math, and processing challenges
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
Strong initiative and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment
