Facility Security Manager
The Facility Security Manager is responsible for establishing, governing, and auditing security policies and practices across site operations. This role serves as the primary security liaison between the organization and the client, ensuring that all security requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and consistently executed.
The Security Manager oversees the full security apparatus, including facility access control, perimeter security, transportation of goods, chain of custody, and third-party security providers. The role ensures that security protocols are integrated into daily operations and that risks are proactively identified, mitigated, and monitored through structured audits and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Interface & Security Governance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all security-related matters between the organization and the client.
- Translate client security requirements into operational policies, procedures, and controls.
- Lead regular security reviews with the client, including performance updates, audit results, and risk assessments.
- Ensure alignment between contractual security requirements and site-level execution.
Security Policy Development & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-level security policies and procedures across all operational areas.
- Ensure security standards are clearly defined for transportation, warehousing, chain of custody, and access control.
- Coordinate implementation of security protocols across operations, transportation, and third-party providers.
Physical Security & Access Control
- Oversee facility security, including perimeter controls, surveillance, and access management.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place for facility entry, employee and visitor access, and restricted areas.
- Manage protocols for escorting high-value or sensitive goods.
Transportation & Chain of Custody Security
- Establish and enforce security protocols related to transportation of goods.
- Ensure proper documentation and control during handoffs between parties.
- Coordinate secure transfer of goods across all touchpoints.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with transportation and custody transitions.
Third-Party Security Oversight
- Oversee third-party providers responsible for physical security services.
- Ensure compliance with established security standards and procedures.
- Monitor performance and coordinate expectations and escalation processes.
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
- Establish and execute a structured security audit program.
- Conduct audits of facility security, access controls, and transportation processes.
- Identify gaps, risks, and non-compliance issues and ensure corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for compliance requirements.
Site-Level Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and manage site-level security personnel.
- Provide direction and accountability for security execution.
- Partner with operations leadership to embed security practices in workflows.
- Support incident response and escalation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in physical security, operations security, or risk management roles.
- Experience managing or coordinating security operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer-facing environments with defined security requirements.
- Familiarity with transportation, warehousing, and chain-of-custody security practices.
- Experience overseeing third-party security providers.
- Knowledge of security audit processes and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with access control and surveillance systems.
