Job: Floor Technician Specialist
Job Code: T67- PR-Flr Technician Spec

There are no direct reports with this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Floor Technician Specialist is responsible for the cleaning and restoring of tile, carpet and other flooring surfaces. Employees in this job class perform stripping, waxing, scrubbing, buffing, carpet cleaning and other restorative tasks for assigned areas. This job class requires knowledge of floor care equipment, materials, procedures and the ability to perform quality work in a safe manner at all times.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- *Identifies damage or areas in need of repairs, organizing supplies and equipment, and receiving parts from orders and assembling equipment.
- *Schedules required or requested floor tasks.
- *Inspects and prepares necessary equipment and chemicals required for scheduled
- *Completes necessary floor tasks, followed by a quality review of
- *Properly secures all equipment at completion of
- *Requests necessary repairs; installs local out tag when

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
- One year of Floor Technician experience;
- Ability to follow instructions clearly and work to a set schedule;
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others;
- Ability to read and follow written instructions on labels for proper and safe use of chemicals, supplies and equipment;
- Ability to learn to use specialized departmental equipment including that used in custodial services such as scrubbers and buffers;
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests;
- Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English;
- Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data;
- Human relations skills to build effective working relationships;
- Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common-sense
- Must have valid driver's license in good standing and ability to travel to various location when needed.
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid state drivers license. Ability to obtain and maintain a Floor Technician certification accredited course within 6 months of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
- Maneuvering in and around the worksite
- Standing and walking
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
- Lifting boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Pushing or pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, mops,
- May be required to push/pull equipment weighing up to 70 pounds
- Grasping both small & large objects
- Climbing ladders and/or step stools
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is completed indoors, although they can work in a variety of different settings depending on the location. Employees must be able to work under minimal supervision; have the strength and stamina to lift heavy equipment and spend long hours on their feet. Employees may be exposed to toxic chemicals, noise from equipment in maintenance environment, and depending on indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to cold or heat.
