The Arc Mid-Hudson has a new full-time opening for a full-time Painter/Maintenance Technician.
This position, reporting to the regional Maintenance Supervisor, will serve as a general handy person performing a variety of semi-skilled duties at designated locations owned and operate by The Arc Mid-Hudson.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performing building and property maintenance and upkeep as per established schedule, including but not limited to interior and exterior painting, spackling, dry wall taping, and wall/ceiling repair. In addition, applies, paints and other sealers to protect interior and exterior surfaces form wear caused by damage and exposure to the weather.
- Applying appropriate paint and finish for the surface to be covered, taking into account durability, ease of handling, method of application, and agency requirements. This applies to primers and/or sealers to prepare the surface for the finish coat.
- Performs building and property maintenance involving a variety of skill sets including, but not limited to, carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, landscaping, flooring and paving.
- Operates fixed location machinery such as table saws, planers, grinders, etc. as well as uses hand held power tools, hand tools and pneumatic tools.
- Responsible for snow and ice removal from paved surfaces which may involve shoveling, sweeping, operating snow blowers and/or trucks equipped with snow plows.
- May be required to maintain grass/lawns, shrubs and trees.
- May be required to climb ladders, work on scaffolding or on roofs.
- Perform all job duties in a safe, efficient, professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with all staff to ensure consistency, efficiency and follow through of the goals of the department.
- Satisfactorily complete mandated training requirements as directed by their supervisor. • There will also be times when work must be accomplished on off hours including evenings and/or weekends as required.
- Expected to respond to emergency situations when requested.
HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/8:00 am to 4:00 pm/must be flexible
STARTING SALARY: $ 20.56 to $ 22.62 per hour
- Three (3) years of experience in a skilled building/construction trade or facility maintenance.
- Knowledge of common maintenance practices, tools, terminology, and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Must be comfortable with climbing and working in high spaces.
- Must be able to work with various latex and oil-based finishes and solvents.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license and a driving record acceptable to The Arc Mid-Hudson, their insurance company, and any other regulatory agencies.
