Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our pediatric care team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents, working closely with families, pediatric providers, and interdisciplinary staff to address mental health needs through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including assessing patient history, mental status, and psychosocial factors to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor patient response and adjust dosages as appropriate.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services, utilizing various therapeutic modalities to address patient needs and promote mental well-being.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records, documenting patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric mental health care through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of mental health services within the clinic.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in the provision of psychiatric care.
- Other duties as assigned.
