Requirements
*All New Hires are required to be COVID 19 vaccinated
MLT-ASCP or MLT-AMT certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician required
Work Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen processing and handling, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Is capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Correct the problems or immediately notify the Lab Manager or Lab Director.
- Adheres to and follows Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies/procedures with appropriate and accurate documentation.
- Follows lab established corrective action procedures.
- Performs proficiency testing in the same manner as patients.
- Diagnoses laboratory instrument malfunctions, performs preventative and corrective maintenance/repairs and maintains records of action.
- Ensures that lab standards of timeliness and quality of patient test results are met.
- Recognizes unexpected or unreasonable results, identifies the cause and takes appropriate action. Documents accordingly.
- Enters and retrieves information using the laboratory information system (LabDAQ).
- Processes specimens based on requests from the providers.
- Follows department and organizations dress code policies.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Lab Manager or Lab Director.
- Participates in COLA accreditation survey.
- Understand and comply with OSHA, CLIA, and COLA regulations.
License, Certification and Registration
- Required: MT, MLT (AMT) or MLT (ASCP)
- New MLT grads welcome!
- Associate Degree Required
Additional Requirements:
- Skills necessary to perform all procedures contained in the Laboratory Procedure Manuals to include specimen processing, test performances, and reporting of test results.
- Demonstrate skills in organizing, prioritizing, and problem solving required.
- Demonstrate communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
- Two (2) year of full time (or equivalent) general clinical laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Athena EMR a plus.
- Experience with Vitros 5600 or similar a plus.
- Experience with LabDAQ a plus.
- Prior experience with Athena EMR system is desired
