About the Department
Part-time summer employment working with children ages 6 to 12. Responsible for directing, supervising and implementing activities for a group of campers in a manner that promotes safe behaviors and improves the quality of the children's interaction with one another.
CAMP DATES: Monday through Friday, June 2 to August 1 (no camp June 19 and June 30
through July 4) Must be available for staff orientation May 27
Position Duties
Coordinate, lead and/or participate in all group activities and planning of special events. Serve as a role model to young children by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct by providing encouragement and support. Handle major discipline problems according to camp policy. Report all unusual incidents and accidents to proper camp personnel. Responsible for campers' safety on bus, field trips, or during any activity. Attentive to and follows administrative notices defining camp procedures and policies.
Staff will be designated a primary role of: arts and crafts leader, sports and recreation leader, nature and environmental education leader or activity assistant.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.Possess any of the following skills and ability to teach: nature education, sports, music, drama, outdoor games, or arts & crafts. Previous experience working with large groups of children preferred. Must be CPR and First Aid Certified or ability to obtain. Counselors must possess a valid drivers license.
Other Qualifications
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions. Requires good customer service skills and ability to lead and teach a variety of recreational activities.
