    The Pleasant Hill School District is currently seeking applicants for the position of: 

    Special Education Cross-Categorical Classroom Teachers

     for the 2026-2027 School Year 

    Qualifications: 

    • Certificate in cross-categorical in SPED or in the individual area of vacancy 2. Degree in special education (B.S. minimum) 

    The successful candidate will: 

    • be able to work collaboratively with regular education and special education teachers ? possess creative instructional ideas to benefit all learners
    • proactively plan for instruction for those with major academic delays
    • have knowledge of key aspects of Math and ELA curriculum, including DLM Essential Elements.
    • actively utilize differentiated instruction
    • be able to effectively collect data on a regular basis
    • use data to plan and drive instruction
    • be willing to work with students individually or in small group
    • work as part of the special education team in the building
    • be able to implement behavioral management techniques with students ? be familiar with implementing behavior plans
    • be familiar and able to work with students with diverse handicapping conditions ? be able to work with and coordinate services for students with paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech / language therapists ? communicate effectively and proactively with parents
    • familiar with implementing functional and life skills curriculum, utilizing visual supports/schedules, collaborating to implement augmentative communication systems ? be able to write comprehensive, data driven IEPs and coordinate services for students with paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech/ language therapists 

    Summary: 

    Successful Special Education Teacher Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong abilities in the development and implementation of strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of diverse needs. Candidates must have a strong understanding of accommodating and modifying the general education curriculum for students with disabilities. Special education teachers must have the skills necessary to communicate and collaborate with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic needs.
