The Opportunity



We’re looking for an experienced Senior Associate or Associate Transport Planner to join our established Ashford team and play a leading role in our continued growth. This is a great opportunity to guide a talented group of transport planners and shape strategy across a wide range of development and infrastructure projects.

You’ll lead project delivery from early concept through to completion, build strong client relationships, support work winning activities, and mentor junior colleagues. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll help deliver high-quality transport assessments, travel plans, modelling and environmental work across a diverse portfolio of projects regionally and nationwide.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of an established and reputable business, supporting projects ranging from strategic land developments and urban regeneration schemes through to infrastructure and public sector commissions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Associate / Associate Transport Planner, you will work across a wide variety of transport planning projects including large and complex strategic land development proposals, residential and commercial developments, urban regeneration schemes, and strategic infrastructure commissions.

You will lead the technical delivery of projects, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet both client and company standards. You’ll collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary teams as well as external stakeholders, including clients, local authorities and design teams.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Business development and work winning

  • Leading the technical delivery of transport planning projects

  • Producing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans

  • Leading transport studies, including junction modelling and analysis

  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, local authorities and project teams

  • Mentoring and supporting junior colleagues

  • Supporting the leadership team in growing the transport planning business

You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of transport planning projects across the region and beyond, helping clients deliver sustainable and innovative development solutions.

By combining technical expertise, commercial awareness and leadership skills, you’ll influence project outcomes, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of our transport planning capability.

You’ll also help develop future talent within the team through mentoring and technical support, while contributing to the delivery of low-carbon and sustainable transport solutions.

ABOUT YOU


  • Strong experience across transport planning

  • Experienced in business development and work winning

  • Proven leadership and project delivery skills

  • Commercially astute with strong client management abilities

  • Confident communicator with a proactive approach

  • Passionate about innovation and the future of low-carbon transport

  • Degree-qualified in transportation, geography, engineering or a related discipline

  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system

  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans

  • Experience with junction modelling/analysis and relevant software

  • Ideally experienced in managing small- to medium-sized single and multi-disciplinary projects

  • Proven track record in project delivery, stakeholder engagement and client relationship management
