Job Description

OVERVIEW: McKim & Creed is seeking a Contracts Manager to support the Legal function by serving as the primary point of contact to manage the review, negotiation, and administration of commercial contracts in accordance with established templates, standards, and escalation guidelines. This role will focus primarily on professional services and related agreements such as master services agreements, project contracts, consultant subcontracts and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and will function as the first level of contract review. This position reports to the General Counsel, will be based in Charlotte and a hybrid work arrangement may be available, consistent with company policy and business needs.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:

  • Serve as the initial intake and review point for contract requests across the organization.
  • Coordinate reviews with Project and Client Managers. Elevate unresolved contract terms to Business Unit Leadership and General Counsel for resolution.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external counterparts to support efficient operations.
  • Review, redline, and negotiate professional services, subconsultant, staffing, and vendor agreements using approved templates and playbooks.
  • Negotiate routine contractual terms within established guidelines, escalating non-standard and high-risk issues.
  • Manage contract workflows from intake through execution, including working with internal and external team members, coordination of signatures and document retention.
  • Work with the General Counsel to maintain, update, and improve standard contract templates and clause libraries.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contract processes, status, and standard terms.
  • Assist with contract tracking, renewals, and compliance or reporting needs as required.
  • Utilize technology and AI-enabled tools to support efficient contract review in accordance with company standards and legal guidance.
  • Proactively identify contractual risks and deviations from company standards, escalating non‑standard or higher‑risk issues in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Support contract interpretation and change management during project execution, including review of amendments and change orders as needed.
  • Assist with training and enablement of internal stakeholders on standard contract terms, processes, and risk considerations.
  • Track contract review metrics and recurring negotiation issues to support continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain an organized and searchable electronic contract records repository for the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. (Degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred)
    • Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in contract management or contract administration.
    • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating professional services agreements.
    • Strong working knowledge of key contract risk areas, including but not limited to indemnification, insurance, payment terms, termination rights, and governing law.
    • Sound judgment in identifying issues requiring escalation to legal leadership.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
