Position Title: SGA Leadership Specialist

FLSA: Exempt 

Location: Quentin Burdick Job Corps Center Minot, ND

Department: Center Director                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

The SGA Leadership Specialist position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor.  The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.

 

Summary of Duties: THE SGA Leadership Specialist is responsible for coordinating a schedule of activities, monitoring and directing students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on- and off-center and coordinating activities of the student leadership and Student Government Association.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures confidentiality and no manipulation of student data.
  • Assists students in adjusting to center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor.
  •   Plans and organizes the Student Government Association.
  •   Plans and organizes SGA executive board elections. Promotes all SGA activities so students can make choices as to how to use and be active in the Student Government Association. 
  •   Ensures that all standing committees provide input into policies affecting students’ lives on- and off-Center, and when involved in off center training. Conducts regular meetings with executive board, committees, SGA advisors, etc. 
  •   Ensures that the SGA is administered within DOL, Corporate and Center requirements. 
  • Maintains active communication with community, vendor, employer and       governmental sources to aid the administration of the leadership program. 

Credentials: 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree. One year of relevant experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registration

Valid state driver’s license; CPR/First Aid certifications, 

Valid Teacher Certification, in state of employment
