Job Description

 

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing daily cash handling operations, auditing point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple departments. Additional responsibilities include preparing daily revenue reports and general ledger entries, completing weekly bank reconciliations, and responding to chargeback requests. 

 

This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, and a commitment to supporting cross-departmental operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. General cashier duties:
    1. Prepare daily bank deposit and change orders as needed.
    2. Track cashier variances (overage/shortage) and process due backs.
    3. Perform cash exchanges with cashiers to issue change.
    4. Audit and reimburse department banks as needed.
    5. Ensure weekly vault count reconciliation. 
    6. Provide on-going training of cashiers on proper cash out procedures.
  2. Point-of-Sale audits:
    1. Conduct in-person point-of-sale audits. 
    2. Reconcile deposits from each POS station including, Lodging, Ticketing, and Food and Beverage Departments.
    3. Research discrepancies and coordinate with leadership to reconcile discrepancies. 
  3. Perform discount audits:
    1. Audit discounts and compensations issued regularly to ensure the proper credentials are provided and reviewed at the time of sale/issue. 
  4. Prepare written responses to chargeback requests.
  5. Prepare written responses to chargeback requests.
  6. Prepare weekly bank reconciliation reports.
  7. Prepare written policies and procedures as requested. 
  8. Assist in ensuring that audit policies and procedures are followed.
  9. Maintain logs for a variety of negotiable instruments, petty cash, vault counts, and outstanding banks. 
  10. Support other departments as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY

  1. Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
  2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
  5. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
  6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK SCHEDULE 

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, one to two years related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and work experience. Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Agylisis Products (Versa & Infogenesis) or RTP | One is a plus. Experience in the resort or hospitality industry is preferred. Cash handling experience a plus.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply mathematical concepts in practical operations and create spreadsheets. Ability to handle and accurately count cash.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
