    Position Overview

    Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Dual Language Teacher to support a two-way dual language program. This position provides high-quality instruction in both English and Spanish, promoting biliteracy, bilingualism, and academic excellence for all students.

     


     

    Primary Purpose

    Provide dual language instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through a two-way immersion model, supporting students in developing proficiency in both English and Spanish in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and district expectations.

     


     

    Qualifications

    Education / Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Bilingual Education certification
    • Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements

    Special Knowledge / Skills:

    • Bilingual proficiency required (English/Spanish)
    • Knowledge of two-way dual language program models
    • Ability to deliver content instruction in both English and Spanish
    • Knowledge of second language acquisition and biliteracy development
    • Ability to implement language allocation models (e.g., 90/10, 50/50)
    • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Experience:

    • Experience in a dual language or bilingual classroom preferred
    • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred

     


     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Instruction & Curriculum

    • Plan and deliver instruction aligned with TEKS in both English and Spanish
    • Implement the district's dual language model with fidelity
    • Differentiate instruction to support both language development and academic achievement
    • Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly

    Language Development & Biliteracy

    • Promote development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages
    • Support students in becoming bilingual, biliterate, and culturally aware
    • Reinforce language separation and appropriate use of each language of instruction

    Classroom Environment

    • Establish and maintain a structured, inclusive, and language-rich environment
    • Promote student engagement and participation in both languages
    • Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth

    Collaboration & Program Implementation

    • Collaborate with dual language teams, ESL staff, and campus leadership
    • Participate in planning and alignment of dual language instruction
    • Communicate with families in both English and Spanish as appropriate

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Participate in professional development related to dual language instruction
    • Maintain accurate records in compliance with TEA and district requirements
    • Support campus and district initiatives
    • Perform other duties as assigned
