Job Description

Job description: The Machinist Tech II has a good general knowledge in all areas of the machine shop. This person is able to complete most tasks with moderate supervision and is beginning to take on leadership roles. This person is a team player and willing to help train and mentor others at or below their skill level. This individual must demonstrate a strong commitment to L&H values and safety processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct all work activities with safety as their priority
  • Observe and be knowledgeable of all safety regulations and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
  • Centering
  • Turning and re-shafting
  • Centering internal and external threads
  • Boring and milling snap ring grooves
  • Grooving for seals
  • Drilling and tapping
  • Programing and setup CNC machines (mills and lathes)
  • Read and follow blueprints and drawings
  • Learn standard tolerances for hydraulic applications
  • Set up machine spindles, wheels, hubs, circles, boards and any other major components common to the shop
  • Maintain machinery in good working order
  • Measure parts using basic measuring tools
  • O.D. mics, I.D. mics, dial calipers
  • Maintain accuracy, timeliness and accountability for quality
  • Willing to learn any task necessary (complex or basic) 

Formal Requirements and Certifications of Job –

Required 

  • 18 years or older
  • 3 years of experience with CNC machines (Mills and Lathes) 
  • 3 years of experience with programing setting up machines
  • Safety Oriented
  • Experience with machining processes
  • Proficient using precision measuring tools
  • Experience in blueprint reading
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision after training
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Team player 

Preferred

  • Experience in an industrial job shop 
  • OSHA safety training
  • Overhead Crane and Forklift training

 

Special Demands

  • Lift or carry 75lbs
