Job Overview
Under direction of the department manager, the Coding Supervisor is responsible for providing first-line supervision for the medical coding staff and department. Provides daily supervision and monitoring of quality and productivity performance, training and problem solving to coders within the departments. Performs coding quality verification, assures compliance with regulatory standards, identifies areas of reimbursement optimization, provides training to new and existing coders. Provides assistance with reporting from coding and abstracting applications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Coding credentials are required. Must have one or more of the following credentials: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Other AAPC or AHIMA credentials may be considered. Five years previous coding experience required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
