Job Summary

The Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management (BS&LM) group is responsible for collateral management functions across all business lines of the Fund. Collateral management is an essential, creativity oriented and fast growing function that promotes efficient operational implementation of HOOPP’s varied public investment strategies on the cutting edge of industry best practices, among business conducted with over 90 counterparties.

The Asset Swap Strategies team which sits within BS&LM, is a key investment strategy to the Fund - tasked with investing in a diversified pool of global high quality liquid fixed income assets and derivative products to create consistent superior investment returns while maintaining excess liquidity for the overall Fund.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, Balance Sheet and Liquidity Management, the Investment Analyst (intern) will assume a role requiring the ability to work in a dynamic, high-paced environment with multiple priorities, functions, and deadlines. The responsibilities will fall into two main categories: 1) building and evaluating analytics to monitor and analyze global fixed income markets 2) building and maintaining analytics to better understand and manage risk within the portfolio. The intern analyst will work closely with the team on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate would possess strong technical/coding skills, basic knowledge of fixed income, superior analytical skills and a keen interest in financial topics. Specific tasks include:

  • Build/maintain code to drive analytics on global markets

  • Oversee the upkeep of the desk-wide codebase

  • Build and maintain spreadsheet infrastructure

  • Monitor market trends and assess their impact on portfolio positions

  • Assist with trading-related operational processes and risk reporting

  • Collaborate with internal partners to identify opportunities to contribute to the broader pension

What you will bring:

  • Enrolled in a college or university program with a focus in computer science, economics, mathematics, finance and/or business

  • Experience with VBA, Python, C#, R/, SQL and/or other programming languages

  • Exposure to bond mathematics and/or financial derivatives

  • Basic knowledge of macroeconomics

  • Demonstrable problem solving skills, punctuality and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with senior staff and external counterparties

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $26.00 to $40.00
