JOB TITLE: Custodian – Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available
(52 weeks per year - through GECS)
LOCATION:

Established by Maintenance Director
AVAILABLE TO BEGIN:
IMMEDIATELY
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Perform various tasks related to the care, upkeep and general appearance of the school. Maintain a
high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency. Strive consistently to promote the safety, health,
and comfort of the students and employees.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Dust mop and wet mop all assigned areas as scheduled.
• Clean lighting fixtures, tops of windows, door frames and other high areas.
• Assist other custodial personnel in set ups for special events.
• Sweep and clean, as required, building entrances and stairwells.
• Wash walls and windows as assigned.
• Move furniture and equipment as necessary.
• Strip and seal floor in accordance with established procedures.
• Spray and buff floors.
• Clean all equipment used at the end of each day.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all custodial equipment.
• Fill paper products in restrooms as needed.
• Replace pencil sharpeners as needed.
• Maintain building security if working while the school is closed.

• Operate equipment appropriately.
• Understand and use appropriate cleaning products.
• Follow all methods and time allowances for housekeeping duties.
• Maintain all safety and code requirements of the state, local and Board of Education Policies.
• Assist in the removal of snow and ice from entryways and sidewalks and the maintenance of
removal equipment.
• Paints facilities and equipment as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with the following machinery: floor scrubbing
machines, auto hall machines, carpet machines, pick-up machines and power buffers, preferred.
General knowledge of cleaning chemicals required.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to work with minimal supervision. Maintain a positive attitude in working with students, staff
members, parents, and community members. Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all
district requirements and Board of Education Policies. Ability to work extra hours when required
preferred.
SALARY:
$15.35 per hour
