Primary Function:
The General Helper assists and relieves other workers by performing a variety of job tasks assigned by the shift supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting all machine operators on the job to which he is assigned.
- Ensure all tools, equipment and supplies are present and serviceable.
- Proper forklift operation.
- After completion of current product, employee will assist in the set-up of the next job, cleaning production equipment and or packaging line.
- Keeping the shift supervisor informed regarding the status of work, safety and report items that require repair and or adjustment.
- Maintaining proper communications both with management and fellow employees.
- Recognition of potential problems and reporting to the operator in charge.
- Reporting items that require repair or adjustment.
- Relieving the operator for breaks and lunch periods.
- Determining and securing supplies needed to perform the task assigned.
- Observing all safety rules and always being alert to potential safety hazards.
- Staying up to date on and observing all work rules, policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a healthy, positive attitude towards the company and its management.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate, GED certification required.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to understand basic math concepts including measurement, volume, and distance.
- Must have ability to operate manufacturing equipment as required.
- Reliable and available for occasional flexible work hours or overtime when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions as well as pass them to others.
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Physical Working Conditions:
- Must wear and properly use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in all designated areas. This may include, but is not limited to: hard hats, safety glasses, PAPRs, ear plugs, steel-toed boots, protective gloves, fall protection gear, and other safety equipment as required based on the task and work environment.
- Must successfully pass a company-administered physical examination.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
- Must be physically capable of twisting, bending, stooping, standing, walking, stepping, and climbing ladders or stairs to navigate various areas of the job site.
- Must be able to work in environments with varying and potentially extreme weather conditions or temperatures.
3 pm to 11 pm
