About the Department
The Archery Instructor will operate under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator. This position is responsible for instructing basic and advanced archery skills to youth ages 9-18 and may have the opportunity to instruct adult participants in the future, based on interest and program needs.
The primary position responsibilities and areas of impacts are:
- Develop lesson curriculum; plan and instruct archery lessons
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed
- Perform opening and closing duties
- Set-up and take down archery equipment and range
- Size participants for appropriate equipment
- Evaluate archery equipment and keep supervisor informed of equipment needs
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment and address participant behavior concerns as they arise
- Monitor program success and participant performance, and provide program feedback to the Recreation Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience:
- One (1) year of previous instructing or teaching experience
- Two (2) years of archery experience
- Knowledge of archery skill progression, safety practices, and equipment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Basic Archery Instructor or ability to receive certification prior to facilitating programs
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- CPR and First Aid certification

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods of time, and demonstrate archery skills.

- Spring Session: Tuesdays, April 28-May 26
- Summer Session: Tuesdays, June 23-July 28
- Time: 5:15-8:00 PM
- Location: South Valley Archery Range
- Hours: Hours vary by season. Typically facilitating archery one evening per week during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
