Job Description
The City of West Kelowna has an opening for a summer student in the Information Services Department. We are offering an opportunity for a student in the Information Technology field to gain valuable hands-on experience by completing a work term in our Information Services Department. 

The position will assist with projects related to maintaining, upgrading and automating the technology infrastructure, as well as day-to-day operations.  The position will also assist with events and other activities as needed.

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Completion of 1 – 2 years of a Computer Information Systems related program (Business Technology Management (BTM)/ Management Information Systems or Computer Science/Systems Technology/Computing/Computer Technology) at a post secondary institution with plans to continue studies in the fall 2026.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft 365;
  • Basic technical support skills of desktop laptop, server, network, mobile devices;
  • Strong customer service skills and effective interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written;
  • High attention to detail;

This four-month student work term position begins in May until end of August working 35 hours per week from 8:30 – 4:30 and offers an hourly rate of $20.23 - $23.66 plus 14% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits.
