Job Description

Position: NURSE MANAGER / EMERGENCY DEPT / RN

Dept: Emergency Medicine Admin

Shift: Full-time; 80 hours per pay period; variable hours

Facility: Miami Valley Hospital North (MVHN)

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager has responsibilities for a functional area of patient services in the system’s second largest Emergency Department.  The Nurse Manager will have a matrix relationship with the Imaging Manager to ensure clinical quality and nursing practice standards for imaging nurses, who report directly to the Imaging Manager.  This collaboration will achieve strategic objectives and maintain the overall health of a specific community segment.

Scope/Span of Control:

Supervisory Responsibilities

·         Supervises FTEs: Yes

·         Number of FTEs Supervised: 72

·         Exercises full management authority including performance reviews, discipline, termination and personnel hiring: Yes

Fiscal Responsibilities

·         Annual Revenue in Dollars: $157,517,804

·         Annual Expense in Dollars: $9,816,273

·         Financial Accountability: Manages operating budget, Approves expenditures, Monitors expenditures, Monitors expenditures


Qualifications

Education:

·         Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

·         Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Ohio

·         CPR certification

·         BLS required

·         ACLS-before end of orientation, PALS within 1 year

·         TNCC preferred

·         Must be able to pass EKKG rhythms test.  Annual certification in NIHSS and By-Yearly NVCI training.

Experience:

·         Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3-5 years of job-related experience

·         Prior job title or occupational experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting required.
