Job Summary: The Gambling Treatment Counselor is responsible for providing outpatient gambling treatment services to individuals who are experiencing problems with compulsive gambling.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Completes screenings using a Gambling Screening Tool for individuals seeking services to determine if there are any other clinical disorders in addition to gambling that may need to be addressed.
- Completes comprehensive assessments to collect clinical and non-clinical information to ascertain treatment needs based on the degree and severity of issues related to problem and/or compulsive gambling.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of the Client Liability Reduction or Elimination Form and any required verification or supporting documentation when clients request liability reductions for financial or clinical reasons.
- Obtains the required admission and authorization documentation, including the Request for Client Authorization and Client Admission Form, South Oaks Gambling Screening Tool (SOGS), and GAM ANON “Are You Living with a Compulsive Gambler?” Questionnaire.
- Provides individual and group counseling sessions in accordance with established treatment plans and program guidelines.
- Maintains complete, accurate, and timely clinical records for each client, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge documentation, in accordance with established timeframes and standards.
- Adheres to all confidentiality, privacy, and ethical requirements.
