Job Summary

The Medical Writer is a member of the scientific services team who, under the direction of senior scientific staff, supports the development of scientific and publications content. This may include manuscripts, abstract, posters, and slide decks, and other relevant content. Development of client-ready, quality material requires keen attention to editorial, reference, and annotation details. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly process and understand scientific information, as well as learn internal and external content development processes. The position interacts closely with other scientific team members to gain a thorough understanding of the scope and expectations of each project. Scheduling flexibility and timeline prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

  • Content Development
    • Support development of manuscripts, abstract, posters, and slide decks
      • Preparation of content for client review committees
      • KOL and congress identification
      • Content development, as directed
      • Literature searches
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of scientific accuracy, including the development of annotation and referencing guides
    • Work cross-functionally to incorporate updates and editorial comments
  • Operations
    • Limited travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Entry level position
  • Ability to understand complex scientific and medical literature
  • Familiarity with literature search processes
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Interest in learning medical communications processes
  • Interest in developing a broad knowledge in multiple therapeutic areas
  • Works effectively within a team
  • Master of Science, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent
