Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Resident Project Representative/Construction Inspector for our Fort Myers office. Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications and work plans to verify contractor compliance
- Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities
- Verify and track work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals
- Observe contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements
- Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, Time and Material (T&M) records and review contractor pay applications
- Monitor construction contractor’s adherence to project schedule and sequence of activities related to daily field observations
- Maintain project redline and as-built drawings
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with the CM Project team, multi-discipline engineering teams, contractors and third-party inspection/testing firms
- Assist and coordinate with project start-up, testing checkout and training activities
- Maintain construction inspection and testing related documentation as necessary
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:
- Minimum 5 years of construction / construction observation experience
- Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering work
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to travel to projects in the local area as needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related PC software packages used on construction projects. Microsoft Excel and Procore Construction Management Software will be utilized daily.
- Ability to work in the field in all South Florida seasons
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Building/Construction Science, or an Associate Degree in Engineering Science
- Construction Manager in Training (CMIT - Construction Manager Certification Institute/CMCI) Certification
- Experience in municipal water and wastewater or similar industry construction inspection
