Job Description

Work Setting: In Person (All in office/field)

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Resident Project Representative/Construction Inspector for our Fort Myers office. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications and work plans to verify contractor compliance
  • Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities
  • Verify and track work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals
  • Observe contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements
  • Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, Time and Material (T&M) records and review contractor pay applications
  • Monitor construction contractor’s adherence to project schedule and sequence of activities related to daily field observations
  • Maintain project redline and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the CM Project team, multi-discipline engineering teams, contractors and third-party inspection/testing firms
  • Assist and coordinate with project start-up, testing checkout and training activities
  • Maintain construction inspection and testing related documentation as necessary

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:

  • Minimum 5 years of construction / construction observation experience
  • Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering work
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to travel to projects in the local area as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related PC software packages used on construction projects. Microsoft Excel and Procore Construction Management Software will be utilized daily.
  • Ability to work in the field in all South Florida seasons

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • B.S. degree in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Building/Construction Science, or an Associate Degree in Engineering Science
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT - Construction Manager Certification Institute/CMCI) Certification
  • Experience in municipal water and wastewater or similar industry construction inspection
