NOW HIRING: Cook (Long-Term Care)

We are looking for a dependable and skilled Cook to join our dietary team in a long-term care setting. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in preparing quality meals, maintaining strong food safety standards, and contributing to a positive dining experience for residents.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements. This role ensures that meals are prepared safely, served on time, and meet quality standards for taste, presentation, and nutrition.

This position works under the direction of the Food Service Director or designated supervisor.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Prepare and cook meals following approved menus and recipes
  • Ensure meals are completed and served according to scheduled mealtimes
  • Follow dietary guidelines, including texture-modified and special diets
  • Maintain consistent portion control and food quality standards
  • Assist with kitchen organization and daily food production flow
  • Monitor food supplies and help reduce waste through proper usage
  • Support kitchen operations as needed to ensure smooth service

FOOD SAFETY & SANITATION

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times
  • Properly store, label, and handle food items according to guidelines
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and as directed
  • Comply with all facility and regulatory standards

TEAM & COMMUNICATION

  • Work cooperatively with dietary staff and leadership
  • Communicate effectively regarding meal preparation and kitchen needs
  • Support a respectful and team-focused work environment
  • Assist in maintaining smooth and efficient daily operations

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in training, in-services, and required drills
  • Assist with inspections and survey preparation as needed
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents promptly
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and dietary instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time and part-time positions available
  • Includes weekends and holidays as needed
