Sonoran Science Academy, an A-rated STEM Charter School, is seeking a dedicated High School English Teacher who is passionate about student learning and supporting multilingual learners. This role combines strong classroom instruction with leadership in English Learner (EL) programming to ensure all students have equitable access to academic success.

What You’ll Do
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English instruction at the high school level
- Use data to drive instruction, provide targeted interventions, and extend student learning
- Create a structured, positive classroom environment with clear expectations
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Learners
- Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress
EL Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support the school’s English Learner (EL) program
- Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements for EL students
- Coordinate EL testing, reclassification, and progress monitoring
- Support teachers with instructional strategies and accommodations for EL students
- Collaborate with administration to improve EL services and student outcomes
Campus & Team Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with content teams, specialists, and administration
- Participate in PLCs, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
- Support student activities and contribute to overall campus culture

- Ability to teach with clarity, structure, and high expectations
- Experience or interest in supporting English Learners
- Leadership skills and ability to guide staff in EL best practices
- Strong organization, communication, and professionalism
- Commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement
Education, Experience & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Arizona Department of Education Certification (preferred), or eligibility to obtain
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- SEI Endorsement (required or must obtain within first year)
- Experience teaching secondary English (grades 9–12 preferred)
- Experience with EL programs, coordination, or compliance (preferred)
