Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and oversee all practices, meets, and team activities
- Develop training programs that promote endurance, strength, and injury prevention
- Instruct student-athletes in proper running techniques, race strategy, and sportsmanship
- Monitor academic progress and promote student-athlete accountability
- Ensure compliance with all MSHSAA rules and district policies
- Coordinate meet schedules, transportation, and communication with athletes and families
- Supervise assistant coaches and support staff
- Maintain inventory and care of equipment and uniforms
- Promote the program within the school and community
- Model and enforce appropriate behavior, discipline, and sportsmanship
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience preferred (cross country or track & field)
- Knowledge of long-distance training principles and athlete development
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships with student-athletes, families, and staff
- Must meet all district and MSHSAA coaching certification requirements
