Job Description

Lead credibility where it matters most. Shape how the global mining and metals sector demonstrates responsible, ethical, and socially sound performance.

Why This Role Matters

As global scrutiny on mining and metals intensifies—from investors, communities, regulators, and Indigenous Peoples—credible, independent assurance has never been more critical. In this executive‑level technical role, you will sit at the intersection of social performance, human rights, and operational accountability, ensuring mining organizations meet internationally recognized standards while building trust with affected stakeholders. Your expertise will directly support responsible resource development and meaningful social outcomes across global supply chains.

What Your Impact Is

  • Serve as a trusted authority delivering high‑quality certification and assurance audits against leading sustainability, social, and management system standards.
  • Strengthen client credibility on human rights, labour practices, Indigenous engagement, and grievance mechanisms.
  • Influence better industry outcomes by shaping audit findings into clear, actionable insights for senior decision‑makers.
  • Help evolve ERM CVS’s assurance methodologies, raising the bar across the mining and metals sector worldwide.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in international development, social sciences, law, public policy, anthropology, resource management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in social impact assessment (SIA), FPIC, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, resettlement, or social performance within mining or related sectors.
  • Proven audit experience, including:
    • A minimum of 10 audits, or
    • 3+ years where auditing represents at least 25% of professional responsibilities within the last 5 years.
  • Practical exposure to on‑site mining or minerals operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of social and ESG standards, including:
    • IFC Performance Standards, SA8000, ILO conventions
    • UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
    • OECD Due Diligence Guidance and related frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across cultures and explain complex findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 50%.

Preferred

  • Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and/or ISO 50001.
  • Hands‑on experience with voluntary mining standards such as IRMA, The Copper Mark, ICMM Mining Principles, ASI, RMI, or the Consolidated Mining Standard.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17021 accreditation requirements.
  • Multilingual capability, particularly English, Spanish, and Portuguese (additional languages such as French or Bahasa are an asset).
  • Experience mentoring auditors or supporting technical capability development within certification or assurance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver third‑party certification and assurance audits across international standards, including ISO frameworks, IRMA, The Copper Mark, ICMM, ASI, and related social and ESG criteria.
  • Evaluate client conformance, performance, and maturity across management systems and social performance requirements.
  • Lead audit planning, execution, and reporting within multi‑disciplinary teams, ensuring methodological rigor and consistency.
  • Prepare clear, high‑quality audit reports that articulate findings, non‑conformities, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage directly with client leadership, workforce representatives, communities, and Indigenous stakeholders in line with audit protocols.
  • Manage certification projects end‑to‑end, balancing scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Act as the primary client interface throughout the project lifecycle, building trusted advisory relationships.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ERM CVS methodologies, tools, and technical guidance.
  • Support business development through pre‑audit consultations, proposal inputs, and thought leadership.
  • Mentor and support developing auditors, strengthening capability within the assurance team.
