Tracerco is launching a new Carbon Authentication business unit to provide advanced monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) services for permanent CO₂ storage in depleted oil & gas reservoirs and deep saline formations.
This is a foundational role combining technical leadership, business development support, and operations management. You will develop our proprietary tracer-calibrated reservoir modeling methodology, support high-value sales opportunities ($1-10M MRV contracts), and manage operational delivery of client projects from permit support through 50-year monitoring programs. his role uniquely blends reservoir engineering expertise with commercial acumen to build a profitable climate solution business from the ground up.
Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Geology
- 10+ years reservoir engineering experience in oil and gas industry
- Direct experience with at least one of the following:
- CO₂-EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) projects
- CO₂ injection operations (any purpose)
- EPA Class VI permit preparation or project execution
- Geological CO₂ storage research (academic or industry)
- Reservoir simulation software proficiency
- Geological characterization (formation evaluation, core analysis interpretation, log analysis)
- Geomechanics (pressure management, induced seismicity, caprock integrity)
- Data analysis (Excel, Python for data processing)
- Regulatory knowledge of EPA Class VI program and MRV requirements
- Technical credibility with commercial acumen

Job responsibilities
- Lead preparation of Testing and Monitoring Plans, methodologies, and cost estimates for permit applications
- Deliver technical presentations to client engineering teams, VPs of Environmental/Regulatory Affairs, and C-suite executives
- Articulate Tracerco's tracer-based MRV advantages versus competitive approaches
- Build cost-benefit models demonstrating 40%-60% monitoring cost savings over 50-year project life
- Review client reservoir data (core logs, seismic, PVT data) to assess tracer monitoring feasibility
- Develop computational workflows integrating tracer breakthrough data with reservoir simulations
- Create design guidelines for new CCS monitoring products
- Define integrated protocols combining tracer, periodic seismic surveys, pressure monitoring, and USDW geochemical sampling
- Create standardized Testing and Monitoring Plan templates for EPA Class VI applications
- Develop data fusion methodologies and real-time alert systems
- Work with legal team on patent applications for key methodologies
- Manage CCS project lifecycle (permit, testing, operational monitoring)
- Design tracer injection tests to validate reservoir characterization
- Manage ongoing tracer injection and sampling programs
- Design long-term monitoring protocols
- Ensure regulatory reporting compliance
- Support carbon credit verification audits
- Supervise field technicians
- Coordinate with Tracerco's laboratory services team for sampling analysis
- Manage external contractors
- Serve as primary point of contact for active projects
- Interact regularly with EPA and environmental regulator stakeholders
- Present at major conferences and publish technical papers in peer-review journals
