Responsibilities Expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD design, CNC programming, prototyping, and hands-on machining across a variety of machine tools. Working independently or under limited supervision, this role involves tackling complex assignments that require considerable judgment and initiative to solve problems and make recommendations. The machinist will interpret technical drawings, develop machining strategies, design and simulate the operation of tools and equipment using specialized software, and generate prototypes to support manufacturing processes. Additionally, the machinist will provide technical support on equipment, systems, and tools used in production, and will be responsible for verifying that any changes made to tools and equipment meet the requirements outlined in the corresponding procedures, ensuring both precision and manufacturability. GENERAL MACHINING Operate manual machines (lathe, mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.) when required. Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMM equipment. Maintain tolerances and finishes as specified in engineering drawings. CNC PROGRAMMING AND OPERATION (Must) Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.). Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining efficiency. DESIGN AND PROTOTYPING Create and interpret 2D/3D models and drawings using SolidWorks. Collaborate with engineering to design and build prototypes for new products. Fabricate and test prototype parts to support R&D and product development. Provide feedback on design modifications to improve manufacturability and function. Contribute to the conceptual foundations of the design and development of equipment and tools Interact with highly qualified professionals in the disciplines of electronics, electro-mechanics, machine-shop, automation and integration. May have responsibility for mechanical, sub-assembly and/or systems design, with the ability to recommend changes to tools, equipment, processes and programs. Makes recommendations to the Supervisor/Manager/Engineer regarding the improvement of equipment and tools that impact the efficiency, costs, processes and/or production techniques of the company. Analytical and interpretative capacity, in-depth knowledge, as well as a broad and practical understanding and comprehension of aspects related to components and tests. Ensures that documentation is properly recorded and follows standard operating procedures, if and when they apply. MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY Troubleshoots mechanical, installation, and hydraulic systems, components, and/or equipment. Ensures that the test tools and equipment are in accordance with standardized operations procedures. Work with a high level of motivation, even if they have little or no documentation, instruction, or guidance. You can determine methods, procedures, or new assignments. Has completed environmental and safety training, appropriate to your discipline. Responsible for ensuring compliance, personnel and the company, with federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the areas of Health, Safety and Environment. Follow EHS procedures and policies that were established at the plant, as well as participate in Safety and Environment programs. Report hazards and incidents and collaborate to find solutions or implement improvements. Responsible for the activities of drawings diagrams required by the group’s support. Proposes and leads cost reduction processes. Assist with production and engineering development to manufacture small tools and parts. Modification of production equipment, as needed. Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma, equivalent skilled trades, apprenticeships or equivalent education. Requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.
