    NOTICE OF OPENING: Certificated Personnel (Summer)

     

    POSITION: Summer Discovery Social-Emotional Learning MTSS Coordinator for students entering 1st-8th grade (one)

     

    LOCATION: Westview Elementary

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • School Psychologist degree, Social Work degree, Valid Michigan Counseling endorsement, School Administrator certificate, or Valid Michigan teaching certificate required
    • Experience in planning and implementing a coordinated social-emotional learning curriculum and implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports initiatives
    • Must attend training provided by Lavina Rise and program site directors
    • Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive
    • Organized, detail oriented, and professional
    • Experience with English Language Learner and special education students preferred
    • Experience in providing student and family supports

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Responsible for teaching daily Social-Emotional Learning curriculum to all Summer Discovery students in grades 1-8.
    • Provide effective instructional methods based on a daily schedule of curriculum and enrichment activities.
    • Plan appropriate instruction to support students' needs with a focus on providing differentiated, engaging, and hands-on lesson activities.
    • Administer pre- and post-assessments, participant surveys, and complete required student progress monitoring data collection initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate student attendance records.
    • Maintain lesson plans in accordance with required instructional times as indicated in the program schedule.
    • Coordinate Summer Discovery paraprofessionals schedules and provide support and guidance to implement academic and behavioral MTSS supports.
    • Coordinate Summer Discovery PBIS program initiatives in collaboration with Site Directors.
    • Implement PBIS program components to support students academic, behavior, and attendance goals.
    • Provide individual and/or small group social-emotional learning groups based on MTSS needs.
    • Communicate with families to provide additional support, community resources, and develop plans to support students' needs.
    • Facilitate and supervise students' daily enrichment activities as outlined in the summer program schedule.
    • Supervise students during all on-site enrichment assemblies and activities as well as all off-site field trips following all program guidelines to ensure student safety.
    • Attend all scheduled days of the summer discovery program including professional development training.
    • In case of emergency, staff members will be responsible for notifying the site director(s) and finding a certified teacher as a substitute for the duration of the emergency.

    SCHEDULE: Training Dates:

    • Option 1: June 16-18 (8 hours a day, start time TBD, location TBD)
    • Option 2: June 23-25 (8 hours a day, start time TBD, location TBD)

    Please note the location of these training sites are likely not to be held within the district and will require travel to a set location that is TBD

    Room Set-Up & Building Training at Westview Date:

    • June 26th (8 am-12 pm)

    Summer Discovery Dates:

    • July 6 - July 31, Monday - Friday;
    • Staff hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week / daily schedule set by the Summer School Site Director.
    • Student Hours: 8:00 a.m.� 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, Staff hours may be flexed 30 mins before or 30 mins after student hours depending on the Site Director (s) scheduling.

     

    Room Break-Down and Clean Up Date:

    • August 3- Monday (8am- 12 pm)

     

    SALARY: $45 per hour (United Way Summer Discovery Grant funded amount)

    ADDITIONAL INFO:

    • All staff are required to attend 4 days (8 hours a day) of mandatory paid training as notated above.
    • All teachers will be given prep/plan time on non-field trip days  (45 min/day) and duty free lunch on non-field trips days (30 min/day).
    • Core classes will be capped at 18 students per class. Specials and enrichment classes will be based on student participation numbers and will exceed 18 students.

    REPORTS TO:  Summer School Site Director(s)

    Positions  will be filled based upon student enrollment, teacher certification and program experience.
