Job Description

Project Procurement Manager — Drive Supplier Collaboration and Project Success

Join us as a Project Procurement Manager, where you will take the lead in sourcing, supplier development, and end‑to‑end project procurement for key categories. In this role, you work closely with project teams, engineers, and suppliers to secure competitive, high‑quality, and on‑time deliveries that directly impact project success.

You will play a visible and influential role across the full procurement process—from supplier selection and negotiation to delivery follow‑up and contract closure—while supporting continuous improvement and strengthening our supplier network in China.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing and develop both new and existing suppliers within defined categories.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle, including inquiries, evaluations, negotiations, purchase orders, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with project and engineering teams to clarify technical specs, schedules, and scope.
  • Follow up deliveries, track progress, and manage changes throughout the project.
  • Support project cost evaluations and drive supplier performance reviews and improvement activities.

Expectations for you

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of procurement experience, with strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Solid communication ability in both Chinese and English.
  • Experience with supplier networks in China; knowledge of pulp‑mill‑related products is a plus.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.

To succeed in this role

You bring strong sourcing and negotiation skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. You can balance technical and commercial requirements, drive progress independently, and support structured project execution.

We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles—behaviours that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:

  • Take accountability – Act with ownership, set clear expectations, and follow through
  • Lead with courage – Champion change, try bold ideas, and learn quickly
  • Build on trust – Listen to understand, be open, and create psychological safety
  • Collaborate for growth – Work across boundaries, value diverse perspectives, and focus on customer value

We offer

Competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative workplace with team‑building activities and career mobility opportunities. You will work in an international and supportive environment, with modern tools and continuous learning options to grow both personally and professionally.
