Position Function:


The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Mississippi State University invites applicants for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This role will be responsible for teaching, research, and service.


Salary Grade:  UC


For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses, develop a substantial research program in an area of statistics and/or Data Science, provide direction and effective leadership for M.S. and Ph.D. students, and engage in departmental, university, and scientific community service functions.


Minimum Qualifications:


Successful applicants will hold a Doctoral degree or a doctoral degree expected no later than July 2026 in Statistics, Data Science, or closely related field. Commitment to effective graduate and undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated success in research.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Successful applicants will hold a doctoral degree and possess the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate course, develop a research program, mentor graduate students and engage in service functions.
