Overview

The Powder Coat Technician I performs routine and repetitive tasks associated with pre and post coating operations working with a trainer. Duties include finishing work, hand deburr, parts cleaning, parts routing, basic drill and tap work, masking and/or racking parts to be painted, and operating various machines/equipment in the assigned area.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up and operates painting equipment in production area and performs various secondary activities within assigned area:
    • Prep
    • Package
    • Manual Paint Booth
    • Auto Paint Booth
  • Inspects assigned work, achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, and follows safety guidelines. Uses required PPE (personal protective equipment) and not pose risk to self or others.
  • Performs basic blueprint reading and/or follows production order checklists, method sheets, and records work information on job cards.
  • Safely and efficiently routes parts using material handling equipment.
  • Works collaboratively within the team to maintain a neat and organized workstation.
  • Actively engages and participates in department continuous improvement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate work information in English with demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, including actively participating in pass down communication to other shift peers and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Basic computer skills are required.

Education and Experience

  • Previous powder coat manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.

Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
