Production Supervisor

Position Summary:

 Production Supervisor is responsible for providing effective leadership by supporting safe workplace initiatives, developing positive employee relations, identifying and implementing plans that result in Continuous Improvement, Quality Assurance and Cost Reduction. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, training, development and support of production employees. Oversees and directs the work of Group Leads, Molding, and Packaging employees to meet the requirements of the production schedule, assuring that all quality requirements are met. The Supervisor has direct responsibility for approximately 40-60 employees.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, review, recommend for promotion, and discipline employees in the molding and packaging groups.
  • Ensures shift employees are following safe work practices and procedures consistently and completely.
  • Trains shift associates in proper procedures, coaches them to improve results, and evaluates performance.
  • Provide personnel with necessary paperwork affecting an employee’s status.
  • Utilize available personnel to meet the needs of the production schedule.
  • Follow production schedule priorities, revisions, and changes.
  • Production Supervisor must complete daily production reports and tally sheets.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with in-coming and off-going shift leaders about issues occurring on previous, current or following shift.
  • Maintain weekly time reports for temporary workers.
  • Prepare daily attendance reports and time cards for computer entry.
  • Report and investigate all accidents/incidents.
  • Make sure packers, utilities, janitors and group leads have the proper equipment to do their job as easily and efficient as possible.
  • Responsible for the safe evacuation of shift in an emergency.
  • Complete all daily paper work by the end of shift.
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to shift start for handoff meetings.
  • Ensure that the correct packaging is being used as per the production schedule.
  • Learn and understand how to use the IFS/WMS scanning system.
  • All other projects and duties, as assigned.
  • Adhere to all BRC and GMP policies and assure that all employees are following the rules.

 

Candidate Requirements:      

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful production supervision experience required in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer skills, Outlook/Email, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma experience.
  • Resourceful problem solver with proven ability to bring quick resolution to challenging situations.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly associates, management, and peers.
  • Ability to communicate to multiple levels of the company.
  • Be organized and be able to multitask in a fast pace maufacturing environment.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime with short notice.

Safety Expectations:

  • Safety is always the number one priority.  All actions taken will be conducted in the safest manner possible and without risking injury to yourself or others. 
  • Follow all Safe Practices and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report all accident, incidents, safety violations, near misses or unsafe conditions to your Supervisory IMMEDIATELY.  If any bodily fluid (bloodborne pathogens) are present, it must be properly cleaned by a trained employee.

Quality Expectations:

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices while in production areas
